Why does one man strive to achieve the utmost quality in his work, while another man will find satisfaction somewhere along the way?

Why is one man content with a 40% profit margin, selling mediocrity, while another man cannot sleep until his work is up to his own standards?

What is it about human nature that makes some of us want to create things like cars, furniture, teapots or instruments to the limits of their perfection?

It`s definitely not about money. It`s beyond ego, and it is absolutely nothing to do with competing or being 'better' than someone else. It seems to be a much higher calling.

One man that is answering that call is George Furlanetto.

George is a Luthier. An instrument maker. A true Canadian craftsman/artisan. He makes instruments for some of the most respected musicians in the world, as well as musicians from all walks of life who appreciate his work.

'The Guitar Clinic' is George's workshop/homebase in Hamilton, Ontario. This is where the instruments are made and also where the delicate repairs are performed, for which George is trusted by musicians and instrument connoisseurs internationally.

George builds electric bass guitars with an intentional pursuit of quality that is rarely seen in today's world of fast-food, dollar stores, drive-thru everything and the decline of consumer expectations. Not to mention our increasing appetite for quick results.

This documentary film takes a detailed look at the creation & production of a Furlanetto bass guitar. We talk with George & his team of professionals at 'The Guitar Clinic' about the process & what it takes to make such stunning instruments.

We travel at length to interview musicians about their tools & their craft. Other artists & craftspeople from many different trades also enlighten us with their perspectives, and their commitment to Quality.

We hope to use some rather unorthodox interview choices in an attempt, not to find any answers to the questions above, but to gain wisdom, insight and perspective from as many sources as possible.
